Poinciana Parkway Officially Opens West of Orlando with 5K Sponsored by ABD Development and Providence Community
Davenport, Fla (March 29, 2016) — The Providence Golf and Country Club Community will be more smoothly accessible as the Poinciana Parkway begins operation with a celebration on April 30th, 2016. This approximately 10-mile long toll road spans Osceola and Polk Counties in Central Florida, to the west of Orlando, and is intended to provide an alternative route from Poinciana northwest to US 17/US 92 and Interstate 4. Providence and its developer, ABD Development Company, are sponsors of the 5K and festival to commemorate this grand opening of the Parkway.
The construction project came about when Osceola County formed the Osceola County Expressway Authority to build a loop road around the Kissimmee-St. Cloud area that would also include the new Poinciana Parkway. This highly anticipated infrastructure improvement for the Central Florida region began in 2013. The Poinciana Parkway portion is a two-lane, grade-separated toll road, designed to eventually be expanded to a four-lane expressway. The Parkway traverses undeveloped land from US 17/US 92 in Loughman to Cypress Parkway (CR 580) in Poinciana.
ABD Development Company, custom home builder and developer of the Providence gated golf community in Davenport, anticipated the benefits for residents when the Parkway opened for public use. “Providence is south of the new Poinciana Parkway, so residents and visitors will enjoy greater access and improved traffic patterns, while within the gates of Providence, the community will remain a pristine, natural setting with abundant conservation areas,” explains Yuval Botansky, President of ABD. It has been predicted that as many as 6,500 vehicles a day are expected to use the new Parkway in its first year.
As with other tolls roads in the Orlando area, Poinciana Parkway will feature all electronic tolling, with travelers paying tolls with an E-PASS or via the Pay by Plate program. There will be no cash options to utilize the toll road so it is advisable to sign up for an E-PASS account at the 5k event (where free E-PASS stickers will be given out) or online. Interchanges are to be located at Marigold Avenue, KOA Street, and Cypress Parkway. The grand opening on April 30th will include Poinciana Parkway from US 17-92 to Marigold Avenue, and there will be no tolls during the first month.
Are you exploring your options for new homes in the Orlando, Florida region? The new Parkway will be a great excuse to visit the Providence community and see why this naturally beautiful gathering of neighborhoods, designed around stunning lake and golf course views, has been winning awards year after year. ABD and Providence are proudly sponsoring and will be in attendance at the Poinciana Parkway Opening Festival and 5K Race on April 30th. The upcoming Orlando Parade of Homes is also a great time to visit Providence on the weekends of April 2nd-3rd and April 9th-10th. The regular model center hours are 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday, and 11 am to 6 pm Sundays.
The April 30th 5k race will feature the field of participants “cutting the ribbon” as they begin running at the 7:30 am start. Students can run the race for $5 and others can sign up for $20 through April 20th by going to www.kissimmeechamber.com.
